The Friends of the Sanctuary respectfully acknowledge that The Upper Canada Migratory Bird Sanctuary is situated on the ancestral and traditional territories of the Wendake-Nionwentsïo, Ho-de-no-sau-nee-ga (Haudenosaunee), and the Kanien'kehà:ka (Mohawk), displaced by the Crawford Purchase of 1783. We respect the Land Title Rights and Treaty Rights of all Indigenous People, and we respectfully acknowledge that these First Nations are the stewards and caretakers of the air, lands, waters, and the wildlife that they have co-existed with throughout the ages.
