Our winter ski and snowshoe program be underway on Saturday, January 6th 2018. From then until the end of March, you will find ‘The Friends’ and volunteers out at the Visitor Centre on Saturday and Sunday afternoons from 12:00 until 4:00 pm greeting visitors, renting skis and snowshoes, serving hot chocolate, handing out bird seed and chatting with guests. There will be special activities announced through the media, our Facebook page and on our website for Family Day and throughout March Break as well as monthly Moonlight Ski & Snowshoe evenings. This season, our Moonlight ski and snowshoe evenings have been difficult to sync with the lunar calendar, so we’ll have to enjoy an evening on the quarter moon instead and hold them on January 27th, February 24th and March 24th. Did you know that as a member of the Friends you receive a discount on ski and snowshoe rentals? Adult rental rates are normally $6.00 per person for the afternoon, but as a member you receive a $2.00 discount. Children and youth rates are $4.00 but with a family or youth membership, rental rates are only $3.00. Our volunteer coordinator, Sam Schuler will be setting the schedule for volunteers and will hold a volunteer meeting at 10:00 am on January 6th to show everyone how to open up and run the cash, etc. If you have friends or relatives who would like to volunteer, or who need volunteer hours, please ask them to email her at email@example.com, or you can call her at 613-330-6726. Even if you don’t ski or snowshoe, come and join us out at the Visitor Centre, enjoy nature, take a walk or hike, warm up by a cozy stove and sip on hot chocolate. We would love to see you!
